To ensure the safety of a product, the HiPot-Test (High Potential) evaluates components, products and solutions for dielectric strength.
In these tests, voltages are used which are far above the operating voltage of the device.
The Hipot test, which manufacturers must perform according to the CE guidelines for safety testing is based on the standards of the IEC (International Electro technical Commission) and the EN (European Standards). Some of these guidelines require the use of a Hipot tester with a power of up to 500VA.
But to get from the differential voltage output of the high voltage source on so many test points, you must be able to switch and multiplex this voltage safely.
The 19'' high voltage matrix was developed to switch the high voltage potential, and to be able to selectively choose the contact points via which the Hipot test is performed, if on motors, household appliances, printed circuit boards or any other device.
Supplied with a CAN bus connector, the software controlled switching matrix is a flexible and scalable solution that allows you to automate the voltage withstand test while benefiting from safety.
This matrix has NC (normally closed) relays, which short-circuits two output terminals with a high-resistance resistor, so that any static charges in the test adapter or system can discharge before the next test. Neither the operator, the test system, nor the DUT are at risk.
Depending on the requirements of the test system, the 19” high voltage switching matrix is designed for 5KV, 10KV and 15KV. The systems are available from 4 to 48 channels.
